Welcome from our Pastor
Welcome to Sun Valley Baptist Temple. I would like to give you a brief idea of what we here at Sun Valley Baptist Temple are about, what our goals are, and how we want to accomplish the work that God has given us to do. But also, by a personal visit to our church, you will gain a much better insight to who we are and how we can serve you and how you can find your place is service to the Lord with us.
Sun Valley Temple was founded in 1960 on Sun Valley Street here in El Paso. This name carried on remaining as they moved to McCombs Street a few years later. We are associated with Baptist Bible Fellowship International (BBFI) and with the West Texas – New Mexico Baptist Fellowship.
We are an Independent Baptist Church which means that we are not under direct control by any religious governing authority. The Bible teaches that the Church is to be an autonomous entity ultimately responsible to God but with its organization and authority within the Pastorate and the leadership of the church.
We have Sunday School every Sunday Morning at 9:45 a.m. which is divided according to age group – Children to Adult. Sunday School is followed by our Morning Service at 11 a.m. and Evening Service at 6:30 p.m. We also have a Wednesday evening service and prayer time at 7:00 p.m. We have various other worship and service opportunities available for Children, Youth, and Adults.
We are home to Northeast Christian Academy (NECA), a Kindergarten 3-year-old program through the 12th grade. There are approximately 130 students enrolled in the school. We are a “closed campus” and ensure that it is a safe and comfortable environment. We have a new playground as well as a large gym for PE along with a robust Athletic Program. NECA was founded in 1977 and through its high academic standards has allowed graduates to have tremendous success after graduation – all the way to the U.S. Army at West Point, the Air Force Academy and numerous prestigious colleges and universities. Our graduates have a proven success rate in many walks of life. And we strive to create in them a desire to serve God in any and every endeavor they undertake – professionals as well as those who are called to enter into full-time Christian service.
We have various Missions Trips throughout the year. We are involved with Christian Hands in Action (CHIA) which conducts short missions trips – often one day trips – with a Health focus while ministering with the Gospel at the same time. There are times when these trips are overnight and even for several days. They go to Mexico close by as well as further into the country and even further. They are a great opportunity to experience Missions first hand.
This is a short survey of who we are and how we offer opportunities of service and spiritual growth. Nothing, however, is equal to a first-hand visit with us and we welcome you to come and worship with us. We would love to know you personally and have you to participate serving the Lord here with us together.
May God bless and if you have any questions please feel to contact us here at 915-755-7232. You may reach the school at 915-755-1155.
Our vision is to “Know the Truth – Love the Truth – Share the Truth” – come help us accomplish this vision for the Lord Jesus Christ.
